Sharing files over the network:

As long as File & Printer Sharing (known as NetBIOS over TCP/IP in older Windows systems) is active and you do not have software firewalls installed, all you need to do is ensure that all of your PCs have the same Workgroup name specified and then you'll be able to see them all and browse their files using the ‘My Network Places’ icon. To access files on another PC, each PC first has to ‘share’ the folder/s (or printer/s) to allow others to access it, and you do that by Right-Clicking on the folder or Printer and selecting the ‘Sharing’ option. If you get asked for a Password (XP & 2000 mainly) when you try to access a file on another PC, you may need to also set up ‘User Accounts’.
